  1. Callers ring a non-geographic number
  2. The call is answered by IVR
  3. Callers listen to a welcome message and then are presented with a choice of options (if appropriate) and then directed through to an operator 

With options, callers can be prompted to leave their details to receive information and they can listen to any other message that is relevant to their call.  This can be designed to reduce the time callers spend with operators.
